Windsor police say two people have been arrested in connection with a carjacking earlier this week.
Officers were called at around 6 p.m. Sunday to Ellis Street East, just east of Howard Avenue. Two people, one of them brandishing a pocketknife, opened the door of a vehicle and tried to take it by force.
One suspect tried to cut the driver's seatbelt, and the driver was able to escape unhurt, leaving their cellphone and wallet. The suspects entered the vehicle and drove off. Later, police reported that purchases were made with the victim's credit card.
On Thursday, a 32-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested in the Durham Region and returned to Windsor.
Both are charged with armed robbery. The man is also charged with two counts of breach of probation. The woman also faces four counts of possession and use of a stolen credit card.
The charges have not been proven in court.
