UPDATE: OPP investigate fatal crash in Leamington

The Ontario Provincial Police say a 28-year-old motorcyclist from Leamington is dead after a crash.

It happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Mersea Road 2 and Mersea Road 19 near Leamington.

The OPP reported late Thursday morning that the motorcyclist had left the road and struck a guardrail.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

Mersea Road 2 was temporarily closed while officers investigated. It was reopened around 8:15 p.m.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continues to assist the Essex County OPP with the investigation.
