UPDATE: Sinkhole keeps downtown Windsor intersection closed

A downtown Windsor intersection will stay closed due to a massive sinkhole.

The City of Windsor announced Tuesday morning that the intersection of Church Street and University Avenue East will stay closed through at least 5 p.m. Wednesday.

"Work crews are on scene [Tuesday] morning to begin repairs that could include some excavating, which will keep the University and Church intersection closed in all directions," read the release from the City.

No injuries have been reported, and there were no reports of vehicle damage, but the sinkhole reportedly appeared soon after 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Police closed off a section of roads surrounding the incident and have advised drivers to stay away until the pavement is repaired.
