Windsor police arrest suspected porch pirate

Windsor police have arrested a woman suspected of stealing packages from at least one home.

Investigators reported that at around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, a woman walked up to a home on Chilver Road near Assumption Street East in Walkerville and took a package from the front porch.

Police described the suspect as a white woman between 20 to 30 years old with brown hair. She was wearing a white top, black pants, and white shoes. She also carried a black purse.

Police announced that thanks to tips, the suspect was arrested Tuesday morning on Ouellette Avenue near Erie Street.

She faces one count of theft under $5,000. The charge has not been proven in court.

Police would like to thank the public for its help in resolving this matter.

They also urge residents to be careful when having packages delivered. If you can't take delivery yourself, police suggest leaving delivery instructions or having someone you trust pick them up.
