Windsor police nab four impaired drivers in one night

Four people have been charged with impaired driving in separate incidents over a 12 hour period.

At around 7:30 Saturday morning a 43 year-old man was found asleep at the wheel with his foot on the brake and the vehicle still in drive in the area of Meadowbrook Lane and Essex way.

He was taken to police headquarters for further testing and was also charged with failure to comply with a release order.

Meanwhile, 12 hours earlier police charged the first impaired driver of the night on Friday.

Police were called to the area of Curry Avenue and Roselawn Drive for a report of a collision.

It was found that a 24 year-old male driver had struck a parked car.

Police said when speaking to the man there were signs of impairment such as, a strong odour of alcohol and slurred speech.

The driver was taken to police headquarters where he failed a breathalyzer test.

Four hours later, police came across another driver who appeared to be asleep or unconscious behind the wheel near the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Tecumseh Road East.

The 27 year-old male was arrested for impaired driving and given a breath test, which confirmed he was over the legal limit.

A third driver was arrested for impaired driving around 1:30 Saturday morning.

Police received a call about a possible impaired driver. Officers tracked down the vehicle near the intersection of Kildare Road and Brant Street where multiple empty and partially empty alcoholic beverages were found scattered in the vehicle.

A 20 year-old male was arrested with impaired and failed a breath test at police headquarters.

Police are reminding people to consume alcohol and cannabis responsibility. If anyone suspects someone is driving while impaired to call 9-1-1 immediately.
