Kindergarten students enrolled with the Greater Essex County District School Board will start their school year with the rest of students next year.
Traditionally, kindergarten students started the Monday after labour day, nearly a week after the rest of the school.
The board made the decision to allow the kindergarten students to participate in all 194 instructional days.
The board said the change will also help families that have multiple students in different grades.
Kindergarten registration begins on February 20. Schools within the GECDSB will host an open house on Wednesday February 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
