Major donation funds new chemo beds

A recent donation in memory of the late Dr Jaideep Jay Rampure helped the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation add five new beds to the chemotherapy suite.

Dr Rampure's wife, Rita, and sons, Suraj and Chirag, made an $89,000 donation to acknowledge the exceptional care he received during his cancer treatments.

The family initially planned to fund one bed for the suite but changed their donation after learning of the need.

"Knowing that there was a need for five new beds, I decided I could not support the purchase of just one and leave out the other four," said Rita Rampure.

The Windsor Regional Cancer Centre's Systemic Suite had over 16,000 visits last year for chemotherapy treatments.

All five beds are now in use and have a major impact on care at the centre.

"We are honoured to assist Rita, Suraj, and Chirag in keeping Dr. Rampure’s memory alive with this generous donation. He will always be remembered as an exceptional physician who advocated for his patients. And now his legacy of providing comfort to patients will live on, even after his passing," said Houida Kassem, executive director of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation.

Dr. Rampure passed away in 2019.
