Windsor police seek suspect in robbery and assault

Windsor police are looking for a person who allegedly stole from a west-end business and then assaulted an employee.

It happened on Tuesday, January 2, at a store on Sandwich Street near Mill Street. Police say the man entered the store, hid several items on himself, and tried to leave without paying.

When the man was confronted by a store employee, he threw the clerk to the ground and ran east toward Mill Street. The employee was not physically hurt.

The suspect is described as a Black male, about 35 years old, 6’ 2”, and weighing 240 pounds, with dark hair and a beard. The suspect was wearing a black hooded jacket, plaid hoodie, red gloves, blue jeans, and white shoes.

Police have released a surveillance camera image of the man and have asked the public to take a look and give them a call if they recognize him.

Anyone with information should call Windsor police's Major Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477), to be eligible for a cash reward.
