Four vehicles stolen within 15 hours in Essex County

The Ontario Provincial Police are urging drivers to not leave their keys in the ignition or leave their vehicles running after a rash of vehicle thefts over the weekend.

Between 5:56 p.m. on Saturday and 8:44 a.m. on Sunday, police got notification that four vehicles were stolen in Leamington, Tecumseh, and Colchester.

The first was in Leamington, where someone stole a 2002 Grey Toyota Sienna from a convenience store parking lot. The second was a 2011 White Kia Sorrento stolen from the driveway of a home in Tecumseh.

In both instances, the vehicles running with the keys in the ignition.

Police found them a short distance away, but officers are still looking for two others.

Police also recommend drivers lock their vehicles, don't leave valuables in plain sight, and make sure you have your keys with you or in a secure place.
