UPDATE: Arrest made after five-hour stand-off

Windsor police arrested a suspect after a five-hour standoff on Assumption Street early Friday.

Officers were called to the area of Church Street and Tecumseh Road around 3 a.m. for an injured person. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from a large cut to his arm. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators learned the victim was assaulted with an axe during an altercation on Assumption Street. Police say the victim and suspect were in an intimate partner relationship.

When officers went to the house the suspect refused to come out. Around 9 a.m., after five hours of negotiations, a woman agreed to exit the home and was taken into custody.

A 38-year-old is facing charges of forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, and assault.
