OPP arrest suspect in $25K jewellery theft

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a suspect in a break-in that took place over the summer.

The incident took place on August 12 in Tecumseh. OPP officers responded to a home on Lesperance Road shortly before 10:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary.

Police learned that the suspect first knocked on the front door. When there was no answer, the person broke in through a back door and took about $25,000 in jewellery from the home.

On Thursday, the Essex County OPP's Community Street Crime Unit arrested a 41-year-old Windsor resident.

The suspect is charged with break-and-enter and using a disguise to commit an offence.

The charges have not been proven in court, and the suspect was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
