Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has ended an investigation in which a woman claimed she was injured by Windsor police eight years ago.
The law enforcement oversight agency reported Wednesday that it was informed of the incident in June. A 42-year-old woman told the SIU she was seriously hurt during a November 2015 arrest.
During the incident, Windsor police officers were at the woman's home, assisting paramedics who had been called there by the complainant's mother. The woman claimed her wrist had been broken.
SIU Director Joseph Martino noted that the woman's medical records in 2015 did not mention any such injury.
"On this record, it was apparent that the woman did not, in fact, suffer a serious injury at the hands of the police," wrote Martino. "As such, the SIU was without statutory jurisdiction in this case. The file has been closed."
The SIU is called on any report of injury, death, sexual assault, or firearm discharge involving law enforcement.
