The Salvation Army and community partners marked World Homelessness Day with a Windsor-wide food drive.
"It's about bringing recognition to the issue of homelessness and we here at the Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope, our programs and our services are tailored to meet the needs of those who are at risk, those who are vulnerable, those who are homeless and those who are experiencing food insecurity," said Major Danny Pinksen.
They hoped to replenish the Salvation Army food bank service which has been dealing with low supplies since the beginning of the year.
"Our stocks are low here, and the volume of people who are looking for assistance, especially for food security, is on the increase here in the greater Windsor region," said Pinksen.
He said he believes inflation and rising grocery prices are affection overall donations.
"That's putting pressures on the local families or the average family who would normally be the donor, who would normally be giving but now they find themselves in the situation where they have to take care of their own ends," said Pinksen.
Community partners like Loblaws, Tailgate Takeout, Windsor police and LaSalle police helped to run the food drive at local grocery stores.
