Trio of Leamington drivers nabbed for alleged impaired driving

Three Leamington residents face impaired driving charges in separate incidents reported by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The OPP arrested one at a RIDE program. A concerned citizen reported the second. Police stopped the third for driving 50 km/h under the speed limit.

A 58-year-old man faces charges after an Elgin County OPP officer spotted the slow driver on Talbot Line near Graham Road in West Elgin just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver was showing obvious signs of intoxication.

Around 6:45 p.m., a citizen called the OPP in Leamington after watching a woman attempt to fill up her vehicle at a gas station on Talbot Street East.

Police found the vehicle. The driver appeared impaired by a drug, so the officer arrested the 42-year-old woman.

The RIDE program that netted the third suspect was just after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police set that up on Erie Street North in Leamington, and a 60-year-old man blew over the legal limit.

All three had their driver's licenses suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for a week.
