Meetings of the Greater Essex County District School Board will be open to the public this year with a new safety plan in place.
On June 20, the board decided to close meetings to the public and only make them accessible through live stream because of safety concerns.
According to the safety plan, there will be 133 people allowed in the meetings; that number is based on the seats available. Security personnel will monitor the number of people entering the gallery.
All visitors will be required to sign in and out at the conclusion of the meeting. Signs, posters, and other props will be prohibited.
The first meeting of the public school board will be held on Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m.
The meetings will continue to be live-streamed.
