A 40-year-old was charged after allegedly breaking into a home and assaulting an officer.
Windsor police were called to Dougall Avenue for a break and enter in progress around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers reported that when they arrived they found a man carrying a large bag in an alley near the intersection of Wyandotte Street West and Victoria Avenue.
When confronted, the suspect threw the bag at an officer and tried to take off. After a brief physical struggle, the suspect was placed under arrest.
The stolen property in the bag was recovered.
A minor was inside the residence at the time of the break-in but was not physically injured.
The 40-year-old suspect faces charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of property obtained by crime, assault of a police officer and mischief under $5,000.
