Suspect, out on bail, arrested for fraud

A 45-year-old Windsor man faces 13 fraud-related charges after someone tried to open a bank account using someone else's identification last week.

It happened on August 18 at a bank on Tecumseh Road East near Lauzon Parkway.

The suspect was out on bail at the time.

Windsor Police said the man was released in the Waterloo Region on August 8 with conditions not to possess government documents that are not lawfully in his name.

Now he faces two counts of fraud over $5,000, two of possessing identity for a fraudulent offence, two more for possessing identity documents of another, and another pair for unlawfully possessing counterfeit marks. Police also laid charges for fraud, failure to comply with an undertaking and failure to comply with a release order.
