After 16 months, housing sales in Windsor and Essex County rose in July.
The increase wasn't much, just 1.39 per cent.
The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors monthly report said realtors closed the deal on 438 properties, compared to 432 in July 2022.
Sales so far this year have dropped 22.43 per cent. Compared to the 3,977 properties that changed hands in the first seven months of last year, 3,085 have sold since January.
Meanwhile, homeowners were less eager to put their homes up for sale. Listings fell 20.35 per cent. A total of 1,049 new properties went on the market compared to last July's 1,317. Currently, there are 1,554 listed.
Listings have tipped 18.61 per cent in 2023 compared to the year before.
Buying a home also cost slightly less in July. The average price, $554,277, continued to dip and is down 0.96 per cent from a year ago. Homeowners are paying 14 per cent less this year for a house.
The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors August report is expected in the first full week of September.
