OPP seeks information on person seen off Leamington Pier

Ontario Provincial Police are asking for help identifying a woman found in distress off Leamington on Thursday.

Police say they received a call in the late afternoon about a woman found about 200 metres off Leamington Pier in Lake Erie, in apparent distress.

Members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton, Colchester Guardian Rescue, and the Leamington Fire Service assisted with the search.

The person is described as a female, 5' 5", 180 pounds, with black hair, and wearing a black or dark purple bathing suit.

Police would like to talk to the woman to ensure she is okay.

If you know anyone by that description who is overdue, or if you were on Lake Erie off Leamington between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, please call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
