Sun Parlour Rodeo ready to ride off into the sunset

This year marks the last one for the Sun Parlour Rodeo in Ruthven.

Saying all great things come to an end, B.J. Prince with the Rawhide Rodeo Company said if someone had told him 22 years ago that the Sun Parlour Rodeo was still going strong, he would have thought they were crazy.

"It's grown. It's been great. There's been a ton of work, a ton of effort, lots of sleepless nights," said Prince. "It's good to go out on a high note."

The final event is ready to go on August 5 and 6, and is already sold out.

Prince said while the event has grown in both size and scope, so too has development in Ruthven.

"That's one of the biggest contributing factors," he said. "The space that it takes up is no longer available."

The Sun Parlour Rodeo has raised money for a variety of causes in the region.
