McGregor Music Festival comes through for Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation

The McGregor Music Festival is ready to hand over a cheque to support the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation.

More than 500 people came out to the 33rd annual event last month, which raised $72,000 for the centre's Patient Assistance Fund and Dignity Robes program.

"It was an incredible day that included eight local bands, a classic car show, great food, and prizes," said Event Chair Sue LeClair. "Windsor and Essex County show up in a big way year after year supporting cancer patients right here in our community."

The Patient Assistance Fund supports patients who have exhausted or don't have access to other forms of financial assistance. The Dignity Robes give patients comfort while undergoing radiation therapy for breast and lung cancer.

Monday night, the festival organizers will present the cheque to Houida Kassem, the executive director of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation. The presentation starts at 6:15 p.m.

Over the past three decades, the McGregor Music Festival has raised more than $400,000 for the foundation.
