For students at the University of Windsor, a partnership with one of the largest technology hubs in Canada could mean access to careers at some of the country's top tech firms.
The university is the latest post-secondary institution to sign onboard with the Kanata North Business Association and Hub350, near Ottawa.
"We are committed to preparing our students for successful careers in the tech industry, and this partnership will help us achieve that goal by giving them access to one of the largest concentrations of tech in Canada," said Professor Judy Bornais, the executive director of the University's Office of Experiential Learning.
Not only will the partnership raise the university's profile among top firms, but students would also get meaningful experience through research projects, internships and co-op placements.
"The University of Windsor's partnership with the Kanata North Business Association and Hub350 is a significant step forward in fostering collaboration between academia and industry," added Bornais.
The University of Windsor's Office of Co-operative Education and Workplace Partnerships, the Office of Research and Innovation, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Engineering will all benefit.
The partnership with an academic institution is not the first for Hub350, which counts Telus, Royal Bank of Canada, and Salesforce among its members. Before its launch in October 2021, it had agreements with the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Le Cite College, and Algonquin College.
