Essex Region Conservation Authority celebrates 50 years

The Essex Region Conservation Authority is holding an open house next weekend to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The community is invited to the John R. Park Homestead for an afternoon of exhibits highlighting the conservation projects and initiatives it embarked on over the past half-century.

The event is free, but visitors are encouraged to register in advance online.

Local conservation areas inspired an art exhibit that will be on display through to the end of August called "Through the Artist's Eye."

"It is truly remarkable to reflect upon not only the many conservation successes that have taken place over all these years but also the challenges that we have overcome," said CAO Tim Byrne. "We hope that many supporters, past employees, and community partners will join us to celebrate this milestone."

The Essex Region Conservation Authority is a public-sector organization established by the Province of Ontario and governed by local municipalities.
