The Greater Essex County District School Board has chosen a successor to Erin Kelly.
Superintendent of Human Resources Vicki Houston is the new Director of Education.
Kelly retires this summer.
Over the past 26 years, Houston has worked as a teacher, school administrator, and superintendent.
"It's a difficult job, but Vicki has a wide range of professional experience to rely on, and she has our trust," said Chair of the Board of Trustees Gale Simko-Hatfield.
Kelly announced her retirement in February after a decade as Director of Education.
