Arrest made in violent Windsor assault

Windsor police have arrested a man in connection with an attack that sent the victim to hospital.

Officers were called on the night of April 6 to a bus stop shelter in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Aylmer Avenue. A man had been punched in the face multiple times, then robbed of his wallet when he fell to the ground.

The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Video evidence was subsequently obtained, and on Wednesday afternoon, police announced the arrest of a 58-year-old man. He is charged with assault.

The charge has not been proven in court.

Windsor police would like to thank the public for providing them with information that helped locate the suspect.
