Bicycling enthusiasts are being encouraged to ride to work on Friday, and the City of Windsor is hosting a morning event.
A bike-to-work ride will take place Friday morning, sponsored by the Windsor Bicycling Committee, the City of Windsor's Transportation Planning Department, and Bike Windsor Essex.
Riders are invited to meet at the Bike Kitchen at 682 Monmouth Road in Olde Walkerville, and the group is scheduled to leave for a guided tour at 7:30 a.m. The ride will work through Walkerville on its way to Jackson Park. The entire trip will take about 45 minutes.
At Jackson Park, Ward 9 Councillor Kieran McKenzie, a member of the bicycling committee, will greet riders, and light refreshments will be available at the pavilion, located west of the Dougall Avenue overpass. Members of the City's transportation department will also be available to provide information about two new street bikeway projects.
Complete information on bicycling in Windsor can be found on the City's official website.
