Race fans will have free music as a backdrop as downtown Detroit resumes as host of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear.
The IndyCar race returns to a downtown street circuit on June 2, 3, and 4 for the first time since the early 1990s. Its most recent history has been at Belle Isle State Park.
"As we have said since we announced the return of the Grand Prix to its original home on the Streets of Downtown Detroit, this is going to be an event, not just a race," said Grand Prix President Michael Montri. "With a great music lineup providing the soundtrack all weekend long in Hart Plaza, our fans are going to experience an entertainment-filled weekend that they will never forget here in the Motor City."
The entertainment will take place in Hart Plaza, at the Meijer Fan Zone.
The stage will feature performances from 12 noon to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, plus from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4. A finalized schedule of acts will be announced as race weekend gets closer.
Headlining the entertainment on Friday will be DJ and producer A-Trak, performing from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Antoine "Big Boi" Patton, a rapper from the Grammy Award-winning duo OutKast, will follow from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
After the racing events conclude on Saturday, turntablist and producer Z-Trip will perform starting at 5:30 p.m. Then, two-time Grammy-nominated DJ, producer, and global electronic music superstar Steve Aoki will headline from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
