Scouts Canada launches camping hotline for camping calamities

While Scouts are always prepared, Scouts Canada understands many campers are not.

It launched a new hotline and website to help them deal with common camping challenges.

Starting Monday, the "outdoor challenged" can call 1-844-SCOUT101 any time and get expert advice on the top ten camping calamities.

The same advice is on its website.

Campers will find advice on dealing with wildlife, keeping insects at bay, pitching the tent, first-aid, and responsibly discarding waste.

"As nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, Scouters lie for camping, but we recognize that many Canadians may hesitate to benefit from the camping experience due to rusty skills or a lack of confidence," said Scouts Canada volunteer Mike Eybel. "A 24/7 helpline was the quickest, most practical, and easiest way for us to support Canadians this camping season."

When campers call, they can use the number directory to find pre-recorded solutions from real Scouts.
