One of Windsor-Essex's premier facilities for addiction recovery has received a boost from the province.
Brentwood Recovery Home has been awarded an $86,900 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which is being used to create an enhanced curriculum and a training program.
Windsor West MPP Lisa Gretzky stopped by the facility Thursday to hear about how the grant has upgraded operations.
"Congratulations to Brentwood Recovery Home for receiving this transformative Ontario Trillium Foundation grant," said Gretzky. "Brentwood and its staff now have the knowledge and technological tools to deliver supports and services that fit our ever-changing world. With the considerable training that the staff has received, Brentwood can now provide the enhanced delivery of supports and services to the Windsor-Essex community. The professional development and training, as well as the tangible tools that have been provided, can only lead to further innovative approaches and enhanced supports for people in need into the future."
The training program was completed at the end of March. In addition to the services already provided at Brentwood, the skills discussed will also be used to support program alumni. Staff also benefitted from the purchase of new computers with the grant money.
"This grant has allowed us to support our employees in the work they do by providing critical training and professional development," said Brentwood Recovery Home Executive Director Elizabeth Dulmage. "This training will help them support the needs of clients, our alumni, and the community. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 40 years of granting and building healthy and vibrant communities across the province."
