St. Clair College to conduct second emergency communication test

Following a successful test of the St. Clair College emergency communication system last week, students at the South Campus will participate in a second event on Thursday.

"This is a communication exercise only," read a release from St. Clair College. "No one is expected to run, hide, or fight during this exercise."

The college said it received valuable input from a test warning of an active attacker at the Downtown Campus on March 27.

Students and staff should have downloaded the Alertus app in anticipation of the exercise.

When students get the alert on the app and their computer screens at 10:15 a.m., they'll watch a video produced by the college instructing them on what to do in an emergency.

They will get a warning five minutes before the test commences. A second message will be sent afterwards.

The same exercise will be carried out on the Chatham Campus on April 13.
