A Windsor man was arrested and charged after allegedly using a taser during an altercation at a downtown grocery store.
Just before 9 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to a theft in progress on Goyeau Street.
An employee reported that a man put something under his coat and attempted to leave without paying. When an employee confronted the man, he returned the item but then pulled out a Taser and discharged. The man took off on foot.
No one was injured during the incident.
Officers searched the surrounding area and located a suspect on Mercer Street. He was arrested and charged.
The 23-year-old is facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited device, and failure to comply with a probation order. The charges have not been proven in court.
