LaSalle could be next to ban TikTok

London, Windsor, and now LaSalle could consider banning TikTok from its devices.

Councillor Terry Burns is expected to introduce a notice of motion on Tuesday night calling for the immediate removal of the social media app from town-owned devices. The notice is published in the town council meeting agenda.

Since the federal government issued its ban on February 27, provinces, territories, cities, and towns across the country have followed in lockstep.

The European Union banned it earlier this month, and the U.S. took the step late last year, all over concerns about how TikTok uses personal information and the security of sensitive government data.

Windsor plans to issue its own ban soon.

Burns' notice of motion advises town staff who don't know how to delete the app, to contact LaSalle's I.T. services.
