The Downtown Windsor Business Revitalization Association received a $125,000 grant to further support Art Alley.
Art Alley is an ongoing art project located in downtown Windsor parallel to Ouellette Street.
“With Art Alley situated at the heart of the downtown, this exciting development provides a great space to take in some culture and a lot of entertainment,” said Debi Croucher, Executive Director of the Downtown Windsor Revitalization Association.
The federal government's grant through My Main Street Community Activator will support art installations in the core. These installations include Graffiti Art, Lampshade Art, Indigenous Art, Neon Light Art, Sky Art, Lock Art, and Shadow Art, to be completed by the end of the month.
“Including art installations in the downtown core is a great initiative. Art Alley offers residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy something new and exciting while also spurring economic activity,” said the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. “Our government loves supporting projects like this because they allow people to connect to their community.”
The installations are being completed by 12 local artists in collaboration with the City of Windsor, the Downtown Windsor Districting Committee, and the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association.
