Windsor Police take loaded guns and drugs off city streets

Four people face charges after police in Windsor seized a large quantity of drugs and three loaded guns.

After a two-month investigation, the Windsor Police Service Drugs and Guns Enforcement Unit executed search warrants at three homes and in three vehicles in Windsor on Wednesday.

Investigators did not say where the homes were located.

Police seized over 1,000 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 32.6 grams of fentanyl, 26.6 grams of cocaine, and 9 grams of crack cocaine. Officers also found three loaded firearms, over 300 rounds of ammunition, $25,000 in cash, digital scales, and designer clothing and shoes worth an estimated $27,000.

"It's a substantial seizure with three firearms off the streets of the City of Windsor, and we want citizens to know we're out there every single day, the men and women of the DIGS unit are doing great work like this all the time," said Inspector David DeLuca.

Investigators believe this drug operation had ties to Toronto and the investigation is ongoing.

"There's always been a strong connection between Toronto and Windsor and essentially the entire corridor in between. We have seen, definitely, as you can see by our local news releases and media, we are seizing more and more drugs with every warrant," said DeLuca.

A 31-year-old, 29-year-old, and two 27-year-olds have been arrested.
