International agriculture workers will have better access to primary health care thanks to an investment from the provincial government.
The government is providing $696,800 to the Windsor Essex Community Health Center to hire new staff who will support the workers.
"International workers are necessary for getting our Ontario-grown food to markets. Our government is making investments to ensure their health and safety when they leave their homes to assist the agricultural sector that is so vital to our region," said Anthony Leardi, Essex MPP.
The positions include nurse practitioners, physicians, and interpreters.
Other areas of southwestern Ontario are also receiving funding from the program. In total, $2.2 million has been dedicated to improving access throughout the region.
