Windsor man charged in string of LaSalle thefts

LaSalle police say a man has been arrested after a series of commercial thefts.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search the man's Windsor address and did so this week.

"During the search, investigators located and seized a large number of industrial tools with a total estimated value of $16,000, which had been reported stolen during three commercial break-and-enters and thefts in LaSalle, and one commercial break-and-enter in Lakeshore," said Senior Constable Terry Seguin.

The search also uncovered two electrical transformers stolen from a LaSalle business this week, worth $10,000.

Seguin added that the thefts occurred between the summer of 2022 and February of this year.

A 35-year-old Windsor man has been charged with one count of break-and-enter, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of theft over $5000, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. All four charges have been consolidated.

Police recovered stolen tools, most of which were identified by the rightful owners through serial numbers or unique markings. Several industrial power tools were also recovered. If you have reported missing tools recently and can identify them through serial numbers or markings, give LaSalle police a call at (519) 969-5210.

Investigators also released a surveillance camera photo, shown above, with three suspects committing the thefts with a black Dodge Ram pickup truck. One is the 35-year-old suspect charged, the other two have not been identified. If you recognize them, call LaSalle police or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
