The City of Windsor continues clean-up from Wednesday night's ice storm that caused downed trees and powerlines.
Windsor Fire and Rescue Services responded to 230 emergency calls due to the storm.
They are reminding property owners who have been without power due to the storm to double-check anything that may have been left on before the outage. When power comes back on, those items could create a fire hazard.
As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, the City of Windsor's 311 system received over 600 service requests for town trees and branches.
Forestry continues to prioritize service requests by addressing the most serious requests such as broken limbs or downed trees posing danger or affecting right-of-ways. They expect to have the priority service requests dealt with by end of the day Friday.
Less serious requests may take a total of 10 days to attend to.
Elsewhere, the Town of Tecumseh said crews with the public works department are focused on cleaning up roadways and sidewalks.
"If possible, do not attempt to clean up trees or debris today unless necessary," read a statement from the Town. "Branches continue to hold ice and winds are expected this evening, posing an ongoing risk of falling tree limbs."
Residents are advised to use extreme caution around all trees and to refrain from parking vehicles under trees.
"Public Works will continue to clear roadways and sidewalks of tree limbs and branches, with additional assistance from local contractors commencing on Wednesday, March 1 until March 7," the statement continued.
Tree branches, limbs and stumps from private properties can be dropped off at Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority's depot for free. Additional information about drop-off locations and service hours can be found online.
The community is also asked to stay away from any downed wires as they may be live. Call 911 to reported any downed hydro lines.
