Here's what open and closed Family Day in Windsor-Essex

As Ontarians celebrate the family, many will have Monday off.

That means many businesses and institutions across Windsor-Essex will be either closed or on abbreviated hours to celebrate Family Day. Ontario is one of the provinces that observe a holiday on the third Monday in February, coinciding with President's Day in the U.S.

All provincial and municipal offices are closed Monday, including ServiceOntario offices, though certain transactions can be performed online.

All four of the public school boards serving Windsor-Essex are off on Family Day. The University of Windsor and St. Clair College will also be closed. All classes resume on Tuesday, except at U of W where it is Reading Week.

Devonshire Mall is open Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. while Tecumseh Mall is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Some big-box stores and chain restaurants are closed or on restricted hours Monday. Be sure to call ahead to avoid disappointment. All LCBO and Beer Store outlets are closed, though grocery stores that sell beer or wine may continue to do so per provincial guidelines.

At the Windsor Public Library, the Central, Budimir, and Riverside branches are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All other branches are closed Monday.

The 311 call centre is closed but will be open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 service line will be open 24 hours as usual Monday.

Residential garbage and recyclable collection in the city of Windsor will be delayed one day. Commercial garbage collection usually scheduled for Monday will take place as normal. Refer to your waste collection calendar for details.

The public drop-off depot on Central Ave and E.C. Row is closed on Family Day. Regular hours resume Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Most community centres, customer care centres, and arenas in the City of Windsor are closed Monday, except for previously-scheduled rentals. The indoor pool at the Windsor International Aquactic Training Centre will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m, though the indoor pools and fitness centres at the WFCU Centre and Marcus Community Complex will be closed.

Adventure Day Family Water Park will be open Family Day from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

The Homelessness and Housing Help (H4) Hub at Windsor Water World will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for single men and women experiencing homelessness.

There is no parking enforcement in Windsor on Monday. Metered street spaces are free but parking garages are open and paid as usual. The city’s parking payment offices are closed, but payments will still be taken online.

Transit Windsor buses will run on Sunday-holiday schedules. Transit Windsor’s customer service office downtown will be open Family Day from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., though the sales office on North Service Rd East is closed.

The Francois Baby House and the Chimczuk Museum in Windsor are closed Monday, their usual days off.

In the Municipality of Leamington, the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre will be open for normal programming on Family Day. The L-T-Go and LTW Transit systems will not run Monday.
