The Greater Essex County District School Board is about to conduct its first student census.
This April, parents with children in junior kindergarten to grade 5 can expect the survey. Board officials want them to fill it out at home with their children.
Students in grades 6 to 12 will fill it out at school.
At the moment, the board is finalizing the questions. It's consulting with groups and organizations in the community.
The survey is part of the board's ongoing Equity Action Plan. The Ministry of Education mandated it.
Results will help board officials understand the student experience and will help reduce inequities and better serve their varied needs.
All public school families will receive a list of Frequently Asked Questions and an email address they can contact should they have questions or concerns when the survey is distributed.
