Fire near downtown Windsor leaves $450K in damages

Firefighters in Windsor had a busy week responding to several large fires throughout the city, including one that left almost half-a-million dollars in damages.

On Friday morning just after 8 a.m. Windsor Fire & Rescue Services were called to a fire in the area of Erie Street East and Louis Ave - just a few blocks west of City Centre. At the time, the public was asked to avoid the area.

Later that morning, firefighters reported that the flames were extinguished. They also shared that an investigator was attending the scene.

On Saturday, Windsor Fire & Rescue Services provided more details about the blaze via Twitter.

While the cause of the fire remains undetermined, the damages have been estimated around $450,000. There were no injuries to report, according to the emergency response team.

This was one of a few serious blazes crews responded to this week. Just one day prior, a fire on Dougall Avenue   left several people displaced.
