A $5-million loan from the Federal Government is helping a Lakeshore manufacturer expand.
CapsCanada Corporation is growing its facility by 14,100 square feet. This will allow the company to purchase more equipment to expand its output and hire around 50 new employees.
"Investments into the potential of growing Canadian manufacturers, like CapsCanada, lead to good jobs and a growing economy. With support from the Government of Canada, they will strengthen Canada's pharmaceutical supply chain, drive growth for the local economy in Windsor-Essex, and creates 50 good paying jobs for Canadians," said Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
The expansion will include two new capsule machines, and automated visual inspection machines.
"The purpose of this expansion is two-fold. It's to prepare for the long-term future because we know the growth is there, and this is for five-to-ten years out. The other part of this is also to expand our offerings," said General Manager of CapsCanada Tom Breshamer. "With more machines we can also carry more sizes from the very smallest capsules to the very largest, and depending on the need from our customers, we can run multiple machines on various sizes."
CapsCanada makes gelatin and vegan based capsules for dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals.
