UPDATE: Elm Avenue fire displaces several people

Windsor fire investigators say several people are looking for a place to stay after a fire west of the downtown core.

Crews were called around 11 a.m. Tuesday to a house on Elm Street between University Avenue West and Wyandotte Street West.

Windsor Fire and Rescue said the fire was put out within the hour, and an investigator had spent most of Tuesday on scene to determine the cause and damage estimate.

Fire officials reported via Twitter Wednesday morning that no one was hurt, but several people have been displaced. The damage estimate is at $300,000 while the cause is undetermined.

People have been asked to avoid the area of Elm Avenue between University West and Wyandotte West. It has since reopened.
