Amherstburg man arrested for theft

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man following a lengthy investigation into retail theft.

Officers from the Kingsville detachment were first contacted by a business owner in September 2022 to report a series of thefts from the establishment.

The resulting investigation uncovered an employee who was allegedly responsible for the thefts.

On Thursday, the OPP announced that a 38-year-old Amherstburg man has been charged with one count of theft over $5,000, and eight counts of theft under $5,000.

The charges have not been proven in court. The accused will have a chance to respond to the counts in a future court appearance in Windsor.
