Windsor police have released a few new details about an attempted murder that happened earlier this month.
Investigators held a media conference Wednesday afternoon at police headquarters to discuss information about the attack, which took place on Lauzon Road in the Forest Glade area on the evening of Monday, January 2.
While police did not confirm what kind of weapon was used, the female victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sergeant Darius Goze of the Major Crime Unit told reporters that the suspect was wearing an ID badge, but right now, there is no connection with any utility company or charity.
"We have confirmed with other agencies and charitable organizations that they did not have a representative in the 3100-block of Lauzon on January 2," said Goze.
At the time of the incident, police said the suspect was wearing glasses, a black jacket, black pants, and black gloves. He was also carrying a satchel-type bag over his shoulder. An image of the suspect was captured on a doorbell camera in the neighbourhood.

Goze said the victim is improving and speaking with police. She is now listed in stable condition.
"This is a targeted incident, and this is based on corroborated information that we have gathered so far with our victim and other people we've spoken to," said Goze. "We are urging the suspect to please turn himself in immediately."
Police are asking for witnesses to come forward, plus any security camera footage to share between 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. January 2. Investigators are most interested in any footage taken in the area of Eastview Horizon Public School on Forest Glade Drive.
