Thousands enjoyed Bright Lights Windsor

It's estimated over 100,000 people visited Jackson Park to enjoy the holiday light display.

Bright Lights Windsor wrapped up for the season on Sunday.

“Bright Lights Windsor has become an important and much loved holiday tradition for families across the City of Windsor and from the surrounding region,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “Year after year, this festival creates opportunities for families to get out and get active during the holiday season, while highlighting small businesses and the drive to support local, and providing a platform for charitable organizations to increase community engagement and giving opportunities.

During the month of December the festival highlighted local businesses and helped raise money for local charitable organizations. Ten community giving partners/charities attended for one or more nights to raise funds or goods. Those included W.E. Care for Kids Foundation, Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, Operation Keep Windsor Warm, Noah’s House Mental Health Foundation Inc., Ronald McDonald House Charities – Southwestern Ontario, DAT Optimist Club, Brentwood Recovery Home, Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

The W.E. Care for Kids foundation raised $14,000 through hot chocolate sales and Team Goran RE/MAX Care Realty collected over 1,000 pairs of socks and hundreds of blankets, and cold weather gear for Street Help.

City staff will now begin the process of removing all off the displays from Jackson Park. The completion of the work and reopening of the park to the public will depend on the weather.

The City of Windsor is asking all those who attended this year's festival to share your feedback through an online survey.
