The Windsor Essex Children's Aid Society is launching its holiday campaign to support 700 local families this December.
Each year, the society collects toys, personal hygiene products, gift cards, and monetary donations to give to local families and youth living independently in the community.
Manager of Public Relations Mike Clark indicated there are many different ways the community can take part in the campaign.
"Sponsoring a family is one way to do it, the other way is you can give a monetary donation. We're estimating now that it's around $400 for an average family of four to support a family through the holidays," said Clark.
People interested in sponsoring a family should contact the Children's Aid Society by November 26. Once you sign up you will be assigned a family and given a wish list. You do the shopping and bring the donations to the Children's Aid Society to be distributed.
Monetary donations will be collected right until Christmas. The Children's Aid Society will use the funds to purchase items on families' wish lists.
