Bright Lights Windsor preparation hits phase two

The City of Windsor continues to prepare Jackson Park for another Bright Lights Windsor.

In the second phase of preparations, the city has closed the parking lot off Tecumseh Road so city workers can bring the tree into the park.

There is parking on the south side of Jackson Park near the lawn bowling and tennis club.

Fencing is going up around the event area, so access to Jackson Park from the gates at Ouellette Avenue and Tecumseh Road will close.

The city started preparations in October by fencing off the north end and closing the service road north of the sunken garden.

Eventually, the displays will be placed throughout the park, and city staff will hang thousands of Christmas lights.

Last year's event drew more than 100,000 people.

This year's festival runs from December 2, 2022, to January 8, 2023.
