Coats for Kids will distribute winter coats this weekend

This Saturday, those who need a winter coat but can't afford one can pick up what they need at the UHC Hub of Opportunities warehouse.

The agency has been collecting gently-used coats and, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., will open its doors to those in need.

Families can shop for themselves, which allows them to maintain their independence and pick out their favourite coats and accessories," said a release from UHC Hub of Opportunities.

The warehouse is at the Roundhouse Centre on Howard Avenue, across from Devonshire Mall.

Along with coats, families can find winter hats, gloves, mittens, leggings, and everything to keep them warm.

"As the temperatures begin to drop, no child should have to brace against the cold without the proper attire," continued the release. "Winter coats, hats, and gloves are basic human necessities."

Since 2002, the UHC Hub of Opportunities has collected about 6,000 coats a year.
