The seventh annual Grow On campaign launches next week to raise funds for the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation.
"This year, we've changed it a little bit. Our theme is about growing on together so 'we grow on together' and part of that is getting our community even more involved to support the men in our community who have been diagnosed with cancer," said Houida Kassem, executive director of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation.
Individuals, groups, and companies can register on the campaign website. Funds will be raised throughout the entire month of November.
"The idea is anyone can do it and don't hesitate if you think all you're going to be able to raise is $50, that's $50 we didn't have yesterday," said Kassem
This year, Ford and Stellantis are on board to help raise funds for the local cancer centre.
"They are internally going to be raising funds. They'll do different initiatives with their staff members, with their team to raise funds and I'm not going to lie, there might be a little healthy competition between Ford and Stellantis to see who can raise the most," said Kassem.
All of the money raised will support local programs.
"We've got a few things that we're going to be supporting this year brachytherapy is one, we're also looking at supporting advanced radiation treatment for brain tumors, lesions, and cancers of the skin. We're also going to be supporting the enhancement of seven cancer outpatient rooms as well," said Kassem
Last year, the campaign raised $255,000. The foundation hopes to reach at least the same amount this year.
