A Windsor-Essex health system has been granted the highest possible degree of accreditation for excellence in healthcare.
Erie Shores Healthcare has been designated with "Accreditation with Exemplary Standing" for 2022 to 2026.
"Accreditation is a quality improvement process which identifies what we’re doing well and where we need to focus improvement efforts," said ESHC President and CEO Kristin Kennedy in a media release. "The whole organization is involved, from front-line staff to board members. I am very proud of the entire team as we continue to provide high-quality patient care while exploring innovative ways to expand our services."
Accreditation is a process that helps healthcare systems improve in a variety of categories, such as safety and quality, communication and collaboration, leading practices, and accountability.
"Receiving the highest possible standing from Accreditation Canada means a lot to our hospital teams," said ESHC Chief of Professional Staff Dr. Luther Heys. "It’s a direct reflection of their dedication to delivering the highest quality of care to our patients and community."
The "exemplary standing" degree of accreditation was granted to ESHC by Accreditation Canada, a non-profit group aligned with the International Society for Quality in Health Care.
